Kraftwerk (Düsseldorf, formed 1970; key albums: Autobahn 1974, Trans-Europe Express 1977, The Man-Machine 1978) pioneered a fully electronic pop aesthetic that became the foundational influence on synth-pop, techno, hip-hop, and electronic dance music.
